Engineering

Accurate Drafting, Inc. can provide engineering services (structural calculations and stamped drawings) if required.  The pricing for this service is handled on a per job basis.  Accurate will require a copy of the specifications (for the scope of work being engineered) as well as the architectural and structural drawings in order to provide this service.  While this service is usually provided in conjunction with ADI generated shop drawings, we can engineer jobs drawn by a third party if needed.

Our engineers are experienced in the aluminum and glass industry.  Currently the engineers are licensed in the following states:
Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, West Virginia and Wisconsin.

Accurate can provide engineering in states not listed also.  If there is time, our engineers can apply for a stamp in that particular state or ADI can secure the services of another engineer who is already licensed in that state.

Engineering can be performed prior to or after architectural review.  Our standard method is prior to architectural review unless directed otherwise.  Often the architect and/or general contractor will not accept post architectural review engineering so that is why we don’t do that as standard procedure.

Engineering information:
Accurate gathers all the necessary information that the engineer will need to properly generate structural calculations on the job.  This is included in our pricing.  In some cases we may require some extra information from the customer.

Revisions and engineering:
Our typical engineering scenario involves generating the shop drawings 100% and sending them to the engineer for review.  The engineer then directs ADI as to fastener types, steel sizes and locations (if applicable) and other engineering specific requirements.  ADI then generates the revisions needed to comply with the engineer’s review.  The engineer reviews the final product and sends a stamped set of structural calculations and if needed,  stamped shop drawings (sheet #1 only).  Several original stamped cover sheets are provided for the calculations (and the drawings if that service is needed too).  This is for the customer’s use in sending multiple copies for submittals.  All of these items will be included in our engineering pricing.

If engineering is needed for non-ADI generated shop drawings then the quotation will reflect what Accurate includes and excludes for that process.

Engineering lead times:
Engineering does add extra time to the job.  Our engineering quotation will have lead time information (usually a ship date for the finished work) on it.

Let Accurate Drafting, Inc. provide you a turnkey solution for shop drawings/engineering.  We can save you a lot of time and hassle.  Call or email us with your scenario and we will be glad to help out.
